Air attacks of the coalition have destroyed the command and control center of the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in Tripoli, according to resolution 1973 of the UN Security Council , RIA Novosti cites a coalition spokesman.
The building was 50 meters away from a tent where Gaddafi receives guests.
Earlier reports said that there were explosions near Gaddafi“s residenceof Bab al-Azizia and smoke rising from the building.
A spokesman for the Pentagon said that Gaddafi is not the target of the coalition.
The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Friday allowing foreign military to intervene in Libya to protect the population. The military operation involving the USA, UK, France and other states started on Saturday.
The coalition has used 124 cruise missiles. Libyan media say that civilian buildings in Tripoli, Benghazi and Zuvar have been hit. Fires started at oil facilities in Misurata. 64 people were killed as a result of allied attacks.
The Libyan authorities ordered an immediate ceasefire on Sunday at 21.00. The Pentagon said that Gaddafi broke the ceasefire immediately.
The Libyan authorities on Friday announced the cessation of all operations against the rebels after the passing of the UN SC resolution. UK Foreign Minister David Cameron said that Libya did not keep its promise and made the international operation inevitable.
