The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Khamenei, congratulated the Iranian people on the solar new year 1390, and called it a year of "Economic Jihad", IRIB reports.
The word "Jihad" means "effort". For example, in study and work. Jihad is a fight against spiritual and social deficiency. Jihad may also be used in the war against colonialization.
Khamenei congratulated Iranians and other peoples on Nowruz. He mentioned the events in Bahrain, Yemen and Libya. He wished for the conflicts to be resolved in the near future.
Khamenei declared 1389 to be a year of doubled efforts and labour in Iran. He emphasized that settling economic issues will be the main goal in 1390.
