The village of Chubukhundzhi in Abkhazia’s Gali District will host a meeting within the framework of the Geneva talks on Tuesday, Trend cites the Georgian Ministry of the Interior as saying.
The main topic is prevention of tensions in the South Caucasus. The Georgian delegation will be headed by Shota Utiashvili, head of the department for analysis and information of the Interior Ministry.
The meeting will see delegations from Georgia, Russia, Abkhazia, the UN and the EU.
Utiashvili said that the Russian and Abkhaz sides will demand that Georgia release a local from Gali, Merab Kolbaya, who was detained by the Georgian authorities. He is accused of organizing terrorist attacks in Georgia.
The Georgian official said that they will not release him. The Georgian delegation will also raise the topic of crossing the so-called Georgian-Abkhaz border.
