EU develops sanctions against Libyan Oil Company

The European Union has agreed on the principles of implementing sanctions against the National Oil Company of Libya, RIA Novosti reports.

Before the sanctions are implemented, they have to be approved by the governments of the EU members. This step enables the unification of sanctions adopted by the EU and the Security Council of the United Nations against Libya.

On Monday, heads of foreign ministries of the EU members adopted additional sanctions against Libyan financial institutes and members of the country's administration. On March 17, the UN Security Council March adopted a resolution closing the airspace over by Libya to stop the casualties among the rebel forces and civilian population.
