Turkish parliament issues mandate for participation in Libyan operations

The Turkish parliament on Thursday approved the mandate for the participation of the armed forces in international operations to enforce the embargo on arms supplies to Libya, RIA Novosti reports.
This one-year mandate has legalized the agreement of Ankara to give five Navy ships (four frigates and a support vessel) and a submarine for military operations against Libya. The vessels are already on their way to Libya.
In addition, the Turkish authorities are now able to provide NATO with up to 12 combat aircraft (F-16 fighters and a tanker) for patrolling, surveillance, interception and escort of AWACS aircrafts, local media report.
