A high-level delegation from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA OSCE), headed by President Joao Soares and the special representative on Nagorno-Karabakh and Georgia, Goran Lennmarker, has arrived in Tbilisi within the framework of a tour of the South Caucasus, reports News of Georgia.
The representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly arrived in Georgia late on Monday, leaving on Wednesday. They visit Armenia on March 10-13 and Azerbaijan on March 13-16.
On Tuesday, the visitors will meet with the chairman of the Georgian parliament and opposition representatives, and in the afternoon travel to Batumi to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili
As Soares told journalists at the airport, the purpose of the visit is to acquaint the delegation with the situation in Georgia. "We intend to hold a number of meetings and get acquainted with many viewpoints," he said, emphasizing that special attention will be paid to the issue of OSCE participation in resolving conflicts.
