Body of Umarov not recognized among militants killed in Ingushetia

People who personally knew the militant leader Doku Umarov in Ingushetia did not recognize him among the bodies and remains of militants killed during a raid, RIA Novosti reports, referring to a senior law-enforcement official participating in the security operation.

It is now necessary to wait for the results of genetic examination of fragments of bodies that have been taken for research, a spokesman said. Examination results can only be obtained next week.

On Monday air security forces destroyed a militant base where suicide bombers were being trained, including terrorists for attacks in North Ossetia and Ingushetia. During the operation, according to the National Counter-Terrorism Committee, two organizers were arrested of the terrorist attack at Moscow's Domodedovo airport, in which 37 people died. 17 militants were killed in the operation in Ingushetia. On Tuesday, a source in the power structures of the North Caucasus Federal District told RIA Novosti that Umarov might be among the militants killed, but definitive conclusions can only be drawn after the necessary expert research.
