"Measures to eliminate thugs should be pursued, taking into account the fact that, unfortunately, there are still problems in a number of our Caucasian republics, and they need to be resolved in this way," Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said today, March 29, at a meeting with First Deputy Director of the FSB, Minister Sergei Smirnov, RIA Novosti reports.
"We need to do this and bring this work to an end. So that every militant knows that his fate is in his own hands: either he stops the resistance and he has a chance of getting out of this situation, or he continues his criminal activities and is eliminated" the president said.
According to ITAR-Tass, Medvedev praised the actions of the Russian secret services in eliminating and detaining a large group of militants in Ingushetia.
"The fact that we managed to uncover a den of scoundrels is good. I think that we worked well in collaboration with various government agencies. Thus we caused significant damage to the thugs " the head of state said.
