Georgia needs shipments of heavy weapons from USA – Saakashvili

Georgia is in need of heavy weapons, President Mikheil Saakashvili said on a recent visit to the USA in an interview with The Cable, belonging to Foreign Policy. 


Georgia is currently purchasing light weapons from the USA. Georgia has many alternate ways of purchasing them. What it needs is anti-air and anti-tank weapons, the president said.


Commander of the US United Command Admiral James Stavridis said that the USA does not provide heavy weapons to Georgia. Senator John McCain said that he will convince the US authorities to provide Georgia with anti-missile systems.
