Russian Navy to guard the coast of Sochi during Olympic Games

The Navy of the Russian Federation will be responsible for protection of the coast near Sochi during the Olympic Games in 2014.

A senior representative of the Chief of Staff of the Russian Navy said on Wednesday that security measures will involve ships, aircraft and even military swimmers, RIA Novosti reported. Navy will be responsible for guarding the state border in the underwater environment. Ships and boats of the Black Sea Fleet, in particular the Novorossiysk naval base will also provide mine and missile defense.

In addition, the Navy will be responsible for search and rescue activities in case of emergency at sea.
