Libyan foreign minister to start talks with allies

Libyan authorities are trying to resolve the current situation via negotiations, Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitrios Droutsas said after talks with Muammar Gaddafi’s emissary in Athens, RIA Novosti reports.


Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou had talks with the Libyan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelati Al-Obeidi in Athens.


Droutsas said that the emissary will continue negotiations in Turkey and Malta on Monday. He clarified that the discussed cease-fire, stopping of violence and attacks, especially against unarmed population.


The minister said that efforts are needed for political and diplomatic resolution of the problem. Greece will inform its partners and allies on the process of negotiations and on proposals, Droutsas concluded.
