Georgian Ministry of Economic Development confirms sales of Poti Port

Georgian Minister of Economic Development Vera Kobalia has officially confirmed sales of Poti Port. She clarified that APM Terminlas is its new owner, who will invest $65 million and employ the local population. Kobalia said that the company owns 44 ports in 33 countries, Business Georgia reports.


APM Terminlas is a subsidiary of Denmark’s Maersk. APM Terminlas is one of the world’s largest port operators.


RAKIA has been the port’s operator. Information on change of the operator appeared in 2010, RAKIA announced plans to sell the port in 2011. Chairman of the monitoring council Haader Massadi said that they planned to sell its shares at international stock exchanges.
