Kazakhstan will continue with its economic and political modernization, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev told a meeting with the head of the observers’ mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Julia Lyovochkina, the press service of the Kazakh state reports.
The head of the PACE mission congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on the preliminary results of the presidential elections.
"The Republic of Kazakhstan is not a member of the Council of Europe. And the PACE mission was present only on a short visit, watching exclusively for the elections. We believe that the presidential elections were well organized and took place in a calm working atmosphere. The high voter turnout indicates a steady development of the electoral process in Kazakhstan," Lyovochkina said.
Early presidential elections in Kazakhstan took place on April 3. Nazarbayev, according to preliminary data of the CEC, received 95.5% of the votes cast. Voter turnout amounted to 89.9%.
