Russia, China to discuss Iran situation

The Russian and Chinese leaders, Dmitry Medvedev, Vladimir Putin and Hu Jintao, will discuss the Iranian nuclear issue at a Moscow meeting on May 8. The meeting will be held during the two-day Moscow visit of the Chinese leader.

"The heads of the states will share their views on regional and international issues, including the Iranian nuclear problem," Chinese Foreign Minister spokesman Chan Gopin said.

Russia has not yet fully clarified its position on US-proposed sanctions against Iran

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Kremlin will never support the use of force against Iran, saying it would be a disaster for the international community.

China, which has the right of veto in the UN Security Council, does not support the imposing of sanctions on Iran and calls for a diplomatic settlement of the problem.
