The president of the Amity Technology LLC, Howard Dal, and the government of Dagestan have signed a protocol on realization of agricultural projects in the republic, RIA Dagestan reports.
Shikhsaidov said that they prepared the project over 20 years ago. It is being realized in Khasavyurt. The canned food plant in Khasavyurt is headed by Umalatov. The North Caucasus needs over 400,000 tons of sugar annually. Dagestan needs 65,000-70,000 tons. The only sugar factory is in Krasnodar territory.
Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov and Howard Dal have signed a deal on stage-by-stage construction of the sugar plant.
There were problems with providing land in the Babayurtovsky, Khasavyurt and Kizlyar districts. Umalatov and Amity studied the Nogaysky District, where there is free land.
Production of 200,000 tons of sugar requires some 1.35 million tons of sugar beet, entailing 16,000 hectares of land. Sugar beet cannot be grown on a single land plot for 4 years in a row. 70,000 hectares of land are needed for crop rotation.
Both sides have also started growing potatoes. 20,000-30,000 tons of sugar beet are the best possible harvest. New technologies will allow the indicator to reach 80,000 tons per hectare.
The project is worth approximately $700 million. Successful realization of the project will boost rice and potato production. Dagestan plans to construct forage, alcohol, dairy and other plants.
Howard Dal said that they started operating in the region in 2009, together with Tengiz Jikia. Dal started business in Russia in October 1991. His company is the leader in production of sugar beet. He owns five major potato companies.
The Director General of Dagagrocomplex, Isak Umalatov, underlined that they will start growing potatoes and constructing vegetable warehouses in the near future.
