Crimea and Caucasus may be joined by Kerch Strait bridge

A bridge over the Strait of Kerch, separating Russia and Ukraine, will
make Crimea and the Russian part of the Black Sea coast of the
Caucasus a unique resort region, Russian ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail
Zurabov said, RIA Novosti reports.

The construction of the Crimea-Caucasus bridge was restarted after
Victor Yanukovych became the president of Ukraine. Russia expects to
finish the bridge before the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

The bridge could reduce the time it takes to travel from Ukraine's
Kherson to Russia's Novorossiysk by 450 km. According to Crimean
authorities, the construction will cost $1 billion. The cost of the
whole project, including access roads and infrastructure, will reach
$1.4-1.7 billion.
