Iran views Azerbaijan as a brother and friendly state, Director General of IRNA and presidential advisor Ali Akber Javanfekr said, 1news.az reports.


The official said that they suspect that the negative image of Iran formed in Azerbaijan, related with its ties with Armenia, is influenced by Zionists.


Iran and Azerbaijan are good neighbors with shared religious and cultural origins, he said. Commenting on why Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan was invited to celebrate Nowruz, though his country is not an Islamic state, Javanfekr said that presidents of many countries were invited.
