CIS and Baltics agree to restore inter-state power lines

The CIS and Baltics commission for operative and technical coordination of joint works on energy systems have approved a project on restoring inter-state power lines, System Operator UES said, RIA Novosti reports.


The document will be presented to the CIS Electricity Council.


The commission approved the project and conditions of maintaining inter-state power lines, the order of accounting the quotients of frequency correction on the power lines. The quotients determine synchronization of the power. They are proportional to each share in the energy system.


The CIS Electricity Council has been working on the issue since 2004. It was developing new technical demands, similar to the ones in foreign joint energy structures, such as Operational Handbook (Western, Central and Southern Europe).


The 22nd session of the commission discussed 7 issues. Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the coordination control center of Central Asia “Energia” and CIS Electricity Council members took part in the commission. The 23rd session is planned for Kishinev (Moldavia) on September 14-17, 2011.
