A special operation carried out by FSB and Interior Ministry officers
resulted in the elimination of an Ingush underground resistance
leader, Magomed Gardanov, who was killed in Nazran in an attempt at
armed resistance.
Speaking to Echo of Moscow radio station, Ingush President Yunus-Bek
Yevkurov said Magomed Gardanov was probably planning terrorist attacks
for May 9th.
Earlier reports said that Gardanov was involved in terrorist attacks
on the Department of Internal Affairs in Karabulak and Nazran and
attacks on cash-in-transit guards in April this year, when a driver
was killed.
