Remains of killed militants taken to Moscow

The remains of militants killed in a special operation at the village of Verkhny Alkun in Ingushetia’s Sunzhensky District have been taken to Moscow for genetic analysis, RIA Novosti cites a developer of the operation.

The militant base was training suicide bombers. It was destroyed in an air attack on March 28. The operation involved use of ground forces. The National Counter-Terrorism Committee reported about 17 militants killed.

One of the militants is Supyan Abdullayev, a high-ranking terrorist. There were reports on the possibility of terrorist leader Doku Umarov being among the dead militants.

The investigation collected body parts and the bodies of two terrorists. They were taken for genetic studies in Moscow, as the only place where such studies are held.

So far there have been no reports on the presence of Doku Umarov among those killed. The studies will take several months.

Umarov started his activities in the 90s as an ordinary criminal.

Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said on April 11 that there may be more terrorist bodies at the base.
