Azerbaijan ready to change its visa regime with Turkey

The visa regime between Azerbaijan and Turkey will soon change, announced the head of the department for social-political issues of the Azerbaijani president, Ali Hasanov, reports Trend, citing Turkish news agency Cihan.
He said that Baku approves of closer ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan on the question of changing the visa regime, and that all these issues would soon be resolved. “The foreign ministries of both countries are working in this direction, and I believe agreement will be reached in the near future”, Hasanov said.

Hasanov mentioned that military cooperation is also being discussed. “If military cooperation exists between Armenia and Russia, why should it not exist between Azerbaijan and Turkey?” he posits. The representative of the Presidential administration also remarked on Ankara’s special participation in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He noted that Turkey was raising the issue more often in the international arena, announcing that this was what Baku expected of Ankara.

“These are the steps we expected from Turkey. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Abdulla Gul, foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu and other Turkish officials announce in all international arenas that Armenia’s borders will not be opened until the problem with Azerbaijan is resolved and they keep to their word”, said Hasanov
