The next parliamentary elections in Iran will be held in March 2012, Iran News reports with reference to the news agency Mehr.
In accordance with electoral law, parliamentary elections in Iran are held every four years, three months before the end of term of the previous parliament.
The term of the current parliament ends in June 2012.
Some political groups and parties are concerned about the elections in Iran and the involvement of the Council of Guardians in the approval of candidates.
In the absence of representatives of the Iranian reformists who were arrested after the events following the presidential election of 2009, an opposition leader and former President Mohammad Khatami called for the necessity of holding free elections with the participation of representatives of the reformist camp. However, some members of the of the Guardian Council say they will never allow the reformists to take part in elections .
