Armenia is introducing a new uniform for police, Police Chief of Armenia Alik Sargsyan said at a cabinet session on Thursday.
He explained that the uniform has been unchanged since Soviet times. It will be replaced with more a more comfortable type.
Sargsyan said that Armenia will mark the 10th anniversary of police on April 16 - Police Day. The traditional police march will have several police groups wearing the new uniform.
The police chief said that the new uniform may weaken stereotypes about police. However, some 4,200 police officers will still wear the old uniform, and it will undergo minor adjustments.
