Iran continues naval military exercises.

The naval aviation of the Iranian armed forces has destroyed submarine
targets during the second phase of the 8-day Velayat-89 military
exercises in the Gulf of Oman, reports the Iranian news agency Fars,
citing headquarters spokesman Admiral Qasem Rostamabadi.

The Iranian Navy deployed destroyers, missile-launchers, heavy and
light submarines and flight units in pre-determined areas and provided
security of shipping lines.

The second phase of the war games also saw training to confront
simulated chemical attacks, Admiral Rostamabadi added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian Army' Navy Commander Rear Admiral
Habibollah Sayyari told reporters that the war games aim to
demonstrate Iran's power in the high seas and southern waters and
expand Iran's security presence in the region.
