Yakhya Rahim Safavi, military advisor of the Iranian religious leader, has accused Saudi Arabia of suppressing Bahrain people and warned about possible military intervention for the actions, RIA Novosti cites Al-Jazeera as saying.
75% of the population in Bahrain are Shiites. They demand extension of rights and influence in the country, governed by Sunnis. Sunni Saudi Arabia sent about 1,000 troops to Bahrain. Iran, as a Shiite state, had a negative reaction to the situation. Saudi Arabia condemned Iran for intervening in other country’s interior affairs.
Safavi, former commander of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, criticized Saudi Arabia for intervening Bahrain in mid-March.
He added that his state has enough forces to stop any attempts to attack Iran
