State Duma to consider bilateral agreement on military base in Gyumri


Russian President Dmitry Medvedev submitted for ratification to theState Duma a protocol about amendments to the bilateral agreement on
the Russian military base in Gyumri, Armenia of 1995 concerning theextension of the document, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the
Kremlin press service.

The Protocol was signed in Yerevan last August. The previous term of
the contract was 25 years, but the protocol extended its action to 49
years (since 1995).

The military base in Gyumri is equipped with anti-aircraft missile
system S-300 and MiG-29. The number of troops is about 5,000 people.
