Russian and Armenian military authorities discuss cooperation

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Oganyan has discussed bilateral cooperation with the commander of Russian Ground Forces, General-Colonel Alexander Postnikov, News Armenia reports.


Postnikov’s delegation is on a visit to Armenia to monitor the process of optimization of military forces at the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia.


Oganyan and Postnikov expressed satisfaction with the process.


Postnikov met the Armenian deputy defense minister, David Tonoyan, and the deputy commander of the Main Staff of Armenia, General-Lieutenant Enrico Apriamov.


The 102nd Russian military base is located in Armenia’s Gyumri. It has been operating since 1995 as part of the joint anti-missile defense system. The base is under the command of the North Caucasian Military District. It has an S-300 missile complex and MiG-29 fighters. Some 5,000 troops serve at the base.
