Kabardino-Balkaria has concluded a deal with the Federal Road Agency on providing a subsidy worth 78 million rubles for construction of the Kislovodsk-Elbrus road in 2011, RIA Novosti cites the press service of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Transport and Roads.
The road is 71.7 km long and is constructed within the "South of Russia" program since 2008. It will be completed in 2013 and is worth 1.9 billion rubles.
Over 170 million rubles from the federal and republican budgets will be spent on construction and reconstruction of the road.
The Kislovodsk-Elbrus road is considered one of the best transport facilities of Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol Territory. It gives access to springs and the northern flank of the mountain. Over 9 km of the road will be made from gravel.
Over 42 km of road has already been constructed. Its gravel and tarmac surfacing has been 60% completed.
