Iran to keep presence in international waters

Iran's navy will continue its strategic presence in international waters to demonstrate its military might and to safeguard the interests of the Islamic Republic, Press TV cites Iran's Naval Commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy seeks to have an active and strategic presence in [international] waters to demonstrate its authority and to defend the country's resources and interests,” Rear Admiral Sayyari said.

“It is our right to establish a presence in international waters, and we will demonstrate this presence wherever it is necessary to safeguard our interests, such as fighting maritime pirates in the Gulf of Aden,” he added.
