Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi told journalists at the airport of Ashkhabad that Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will continue realization of their joint project on construction of a railway connecting them, Iran.ru reports.
Salehi emphasized that Iran and Turkmenistan are increasing the transport of energy carriers. The minister arrived in Turkmenistan to exchange views on bilateral relations. He plans to hold a trilateral meeting of Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to talk on construction of the railway.
The Iranian minister underlined that the railway will play an important role in developing trade. He added that they plan signing a memorandum on cooperation in rail, sea and land transport between Iran, Turkmenistan, Oman, Qatar and Uzbekistan.
Salehi emphasized that the document will improve trade-economic ties between the countries of the Gulf and Central Asia.
