Syria has closed its land border with Jordan, Reuters reports.
It happened after the entrance of tanks into Deraa to suppress anti-government protests, Russia 24 reports.
Two border crossing points in Deraa and Nassib were closed to enforce stability. 8 tanks and two armored vehicles surrounded the mosque in Omari.
Snipers went up onto the roofs of houses. At least two dead protesters were found. Soldiers did not allow citizens to collect the dead bodies.
Al-Jazeera reported that the Syrian military had started an operation in Deraa. At least five people died in clashes with soldiers.
Disorders in Syria started in mid-March. Unofficial information puts the death toll at over 200 people. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has demanded a stop to the bloodshed in Syria.
