A team of inspectors from Turkey and the United States have launched surveillance flights over the territory of the Russian Federation on Turkish CH-235 aircraft in the framework of the international Open Skies Treaty, RIA Novosti reports.
CH-235 observation aircraft have observation equipment according to international standards.
The Open Skies Treaty was signed in Helsinki on March 24, 1992, by representatives of 23 states. It is aimed at strengthening international security, confidence-building between nations through improved mechanisms of monitoring military activities and the implementation of existing treaties in the field of arms control.
