Russian foreign minister visits Abkhazia

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov is on a visit to Abkhazia. He laid flowers at the Memorial of Honour to victims of the Georgian-Abkhaz war (1992-1993), ITAR-TASS reports.


The Russian chief diplomat and Abkhaz Prime Minister Sergey Shamba drank coffee at the coast. Sergey Lavrov met with Abkhaz President Sergey Bagapsh. Talks in expanded format will be held with the government of Abkhazia.


Lavrov is expected to sign an agreement on the opening and operation of information-cultural centers. The Russian minister will take part in presenting a book called "Russians in Abkhazia".
