The Bahraini authorities have deported a senior employee at the Iranian Embassy because of the deteriorating relations between the two countries on religious grounds, Associated Press reports.
On Monday, the Second Secretary of the Iranian embassy in Bahrain, Manama Hudzhatala Rahmani, was declared persona non grata in Bahrain and received notification that he had to leave the country within 72 hours.
The Iranian government has not taken any reciprocal steps, but Tehran has already announced that it reserves the right to act on a "tit for tat” principle.
