US congressmen and Azerbaijani parliament members have discussed intensification of the work of the OSCE Minsk Group, Bill Shuster, head of the US delegation of congressmen and member of the Congress Committee on Armed Services and Transport, told journalists today, Trend reports.
The sides touched upon the issue of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The US side noted its commitment to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The US delegation that arrived in Baku on Wednesday is headed by Shuster. It also consists of Congressmen Chris Murphy, Sean Duffy, Adam Kinzinger, Cedric Richmond and Jon Runyan.
The US delegation has already met the Azerbaijani Vice-Speaker Ziyafet Askerov and the head of the inter-parliamentary group for friendship, Samed Seidov.
Shuster said that the USA values its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. It is satisfied with Azerbaijan's input into Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo, as well as the energy security of the West. Azerbaijan and the USA have common interests in many aspects.
