Three states may recognize the independence of Abkhazia in the near future, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic Maxim Gvindzhiya told RIA Novosti. He clarified that they are African states. He added that Moscow and Sukhumi plan to sign a deal on dual citizenship.

The Abkhaz Parliament passed a bill on the act of civil status. Ethnic Abkhazians, their direct descendents, who left the republic due to the Russian-Caucasian and Russian-Turkish wars of the 19th century, aged 18 or over, may reclaim their Abkhaz names. The bill concerns repatriates only.

A two-volume book “Abkhazia – a Country of Soul. Ethnos, excursion and orphography in texts and photographs” was published in Nalchik. The book was written in Russian and consists of 140 printed sheets of about 1200 pages. It contains literary works about Abkhazia and its people by 60 authors: foreign explorers and missionaries, Russian scientists and military and local writers.
