Russian Federal Migration Service insists on abolition of quotas for migrant workers

The Federal Migration Service (FMS) of Russia insists on the abolition of quotas for migrant workers, but believes that the influx of unskilled labor in a number of Russian regions should be limited, the director of the Federal Migration Service, Konstantin Romodanovsky, said today, RIA Novosti reports.

"I know that not everyone agrees with our position, but nevertheless, we insist on it," the head of the FMS said.

The total quota for migrant workers in Russia in 2011 is more than 1.7 million people, taking into account a 30 percent reserve.
