A police officer was injured in a blast in Dagestan on Thursday, RIA Novosti cites a police spokesman as saying.
The self-made bomb went off at 17.50 (Moscow time) while the police of Kazbekovsky District and the military were carrying out a special operation in a forest, 3 km to the east of the village of Leninaul. The police officer was hospitalized with wounds from projectiles.
The bomb was equivalent to 100 grams of TNT. A crater with a diameter of 40 cm and depth of 15 cm was left. Glass bottles and wires were taken from the spot.
A police source said that a criminal case was initiated for illegal production of bombs and an attempt on the life of a police officer. The latter charge may allow the assailants to be sentenced to life.
Unidentified assailants blew up a vehicle belonging to the chairman of the chamber of accounts and inspection commission of Karabudakhkent in Dagestan, a source told RIA Novosti on Friday. The bomb was equivalent to 50 grams of TNT, no one was injured.
