FBI chief visits Georgia

The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert Mueller,
arrived in Tbilisi on a short visit on May 7th, the first visit by an
FBI chief since 2001.
He held meetings with the Georgian Minister for Internal Affairs,
Ivane Merabishvili, and Minister for Justice Zurab Adeishvili, reports
Turan.
During the meeting issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The
head of the FBI expressed appreciation of reforms in the
law-enforcement system in Georgia. Adieishvili for his part thanked
Robert Mueller for assistance and active cooperation.
No more details were revealed by the Ministry spokesman about the talks.
Commenting on the visit of Robert Mueller to Georgia, vice-minister
for reintegration Temur Yakobashvili said that the US is interested in
cooperation with Georgia and this visit is aimed at establishing
closer partnership in countering threats.
