The law-enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation have eliminated 136 fighters (including 19 leaders of gangs) and arrested 243 militants and their supporters since the beginning of the year, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) has announced, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the report, among the killed leaders of militant gangs are the chief representative of al-Qaeda in the North Caucasus, Khaled Youssef Mohammed al-Emirate, known as “Moganned”, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization "Caucasian Emirat", Abdullaev, the leaders of Dagestani gangs Validzhanov, Guseinov and Dzhappuev and a militant leader from Kabardino-Balkaria.
The NAC notes that in 2010, as a result of counter-terrorist operations, one of the founders of the al-Qaeda network in Russia, Mohmad Shabaan, nicknamed Saif-Islam, a Deputy of Moganned, Abdul Khalid, and his active accomplices Magmadov Apti and Magmadova Aisha, were killed.
