The Georgian State Minister for Reintegration, Eka Tkeshelashvili, discussed Georgian security and the role of the USA while on a visit to Washington, Georgia Online reports.
The issue was discussed with Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Chairwoman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Tkeshelashvili is having meetings at the US State Department, Senate and Congress. Security is a priority for Georgia and the region as a whole, she said. Lehtinen emphasized that Georgian security is part of US security.
The Georgian minister said that they discussed a resolution prepared by the US Congress against the occupation of Georgia and support for its unity.
Tkeshelashvili met US Assistant Deputy Secretary of State Tina Kaidenau.
