Libyan embassy requests Turkey to return debt

The Libyan embassy in Ankara has requested the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return a debt of $2 million. The sum is needed to maintain the Libyan diplomatic mission in the republic, ITAR-TASS cites local media.


NTV said that instability in the country left Libyan diplomats without financial support. Diplomats have not received wages “for a long period”, Russia 24 reports.


Turkey is concerned with the situation in Libya. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country will continue realizing humanitarian initiatives in Libya and supports Muammar Gaddafi as the Libyan leader.
