An informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization is taking place today at the presidential residence "Gorki" near Moscow. The leaders of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tadjikistan and the Uzbeck premier, as well as the Secretary General of the CSTO, Nikolai Borduzha, are participating in the meeting, reports RIA Novosti.
It is expected that the burning issues in the region will come under discussion, particularly the situation in Kyrgyzstan and the US-Russian agreement on further strategic nuclear weapons disarmament, signed on April 8th. The organization's activities will also be discussed. A source in the Kremlin noted that the unofficial character of this meeting does not exclude the possibility of drawing up joint statements and documents.
