Turkish State Secretary and the head of his country's delegation at Turkish-EU negotiations Egemen Bagis has advised Greece to reduce its spending on arms.
"Our defence expenditures should be equal to those of our partners. That is why we should move towards mutual arms reduction," Bagis said.
He also said he considered Greek spending on arms to be one of the reasons for the economic crisis in Greece.
Speaking about negotiations with the EU, Bagis noted that sides should show patience in this issue. "Turkey won't join the EU before the end of the talks. But we are ready to continue carrying out reforms," he noted.
In an interview with the Greek newspaper Ta Nea, Bagis also touched upon the issue of Turkish-Greek relations, and the forthcoming visit of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Athens.
