Baku is hosting the High Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples, chaired by Supreme Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Trend reports.
The council will discuss achievements in culture and cooperation in the Caucasus.
Pashazadeh says that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pays much attention to strengthening ties between the government and religion and prosperity of the Caucasus.
Participants of the meeting visited the Honorary Alley and the Alley of Sheikhs.
Officials from Georgia and Dagestan, as well as all muftis of the Caucasus are at the meeting.
Pashazadeh said that the council promotes the launch of religious structures. Plans of extremists and terrorists will be stopped by joint efforts, public organizations, religious communities.
Chairman of the Chechen Muslims Sultan Mirzoyev said that the problem of the Caucasus come from radical youth. Spiritual and ethic education is needed, he said. The Chechen official called for preservation of peace and stability. Real steps need to be taken.
The High Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples was established in 1992. Supreme Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazadeh was elected by religious authorities of Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Georgia, Ingushetia, Chechnya and Adygeya.
