The leader of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov, has appointed Svetlana Oguzova as the new Ombudsman for Children, Yuga.ru reports.
The position has been vacant since its opening in 2009. Oguzova has already headed the territorial administration of the Russian Ministry of Property Relations in Adygeya. She was the deputy head of the commission for securities and the stock market and the Deputy Minister for Property.
The children’s ombudsman will operate independently and in association with authorized state structures and officials to inspect the activities of the executive authorities and functionaries. The ombudsman may send them recommendations if any violations of children’s rights are exposed.
