European parliament's head goes to South Caucasus

The head of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, is on an official visit to the countries of the South Caucasus –Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia.

“Development of democracy, human rights, rule of law, stability and improvement of living standards are the main target of European partnership for the EU and its eastern partners,” Buzek stated.

The Eastern Partnership project is aimed at close cooperation with the EU of six former Soviet republics: Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Belarus.

According to Buzek, he is going to discuss a peaceful settlement of long-standing conflicts with the heads of the three countries.

The problem of energy security will also be discussed.
