Iran to present new ballistic missiles

Iran plans to present its new ballistic missiles next week, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said, RBC reports.

The presentation of new combat vessels and ballistic missiles will be held on May 24, 2011, and will coincide with the liberation of Khorramshahr from Iraqi forces in 1982.

The minister said that the missiles will come into service in the near future. He has not clarified any features of the missiles.

Independent experts say that Iran is increasing missile potential, although its missiles have a maximum range of 2,000 km. Shahab-3 missile has a medium range, uses liquid fuel and is launched from mobile platforms.
