Iran, Kuwait to restore diplomatic relations

Iran and Kuwait have decided to fully restore diplomatic relations. They reached an agreement during the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi to Kuwait today, Iran News reports.

The two states had a diplomatic scandal in late March 2011, caused by the decision of a court in Kuwait to recognize a group of people as Iranian spies. Three of them were executed, one sentenced to life behind bars and several released.

Several Iranian diplomats were expelled for having contacts with the "spies". Tehran denied all the espionage accusations and expelled three Kuwaiti diplomats.
