Turkey would bring significant 'added value' to EU - Barroso

Having Turkey as a member would not create a burden for the European Union, but would instead contribute significant added value to EU, the president of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso said on Wednesday in his speach at the European Business Summit in Brussels, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

“Some European Union member states are not ready to accept Turkey as a full member at this point,” said Barroso.

The European Union is a democratic structure and “it has to take into consideration all its members,” Barroso added.
